Maiden Castle Golden Hour, Dorset

January 2014 - I love Maiden Castle but I'm still trying to find the best view, as so many. Only an arial view can capture its amazing structure and the scale of this iron age hill fort, so I try to capture small sections of the surrounding views. I never feel alone up there in the early hours or late at night as so much history surrounds the old settlement which dates back to 600 BC. The sunrise was nothing special but then the beautiful golden light of the early sun started to warm the landscape and everything started to glow. In the distance you can see the flooded fields from the heavy rainfall this month which has caused the Winterbourne river to burst its banks.
