View from Bats Head, Dorset

December 2014 - This was the morning after the so called 'Weather Bomb' or what used to be called simply a 'very windy day'. The tide was higher than predicted due to the prevailing wind driving the waves into Durdle Door bay, which made it impossible to get down onto the beach for my proposed sunrise shoot. Also the cloud cover was thick and the sunrise became a non event, so I decided to trek across the coastline towards Bats Head and scout some new locations for possible shoots another day. On my way back the weather started to improve and this shot was taken close to the top of Bats Head as the storm clouds started clear. It's a dramatic part of the jurassic coastline anyway, but the storm clouds add to the mood of the rugged scenery, and Durdle Door adds a familiar focal point and sense of scale.
