Brownsea Island

The City & Guilds group I attend on a Tuesday evening were lucky enough to have out of hours access to Brownsea Island for the evening. I'd only ever visited this Island in the middle of Poole Harbour as a child and forgotten how beautiful it is, and such a variety of locations in such a small space. Unfortunately public access is normally between the hours of 10a.m. to 5p.m. so not great for landscapes in the summer hours, but interesting none the less.

We crossed to the Island at 6p.m. and allowed to leave after sunset and of course observed all the rules of the Island to protect the nature reserves and wildlife living there. The weather was mainly bright sunlight, but a storm passed overhead which made things interesting. I'll definitely be visiting again with my youngest daughter, who will probably be camping there with the Guides when she's older, as did her older sisters.
