I sensed I was not alone in the Bluebell Woods

I decided to take a look at the bluebell woods close to my home, in the hope that they may be ready to photograph, but the weather didn't look promising. I'd scouted around for half an hour until I found a good location and setup ready to take some shots for reference as the light wasn't good, so would probably return another day. Then I heard the noise of something moving slowly and the occasional breaking of small sticks under foot, and as I turned to my right slowly I could see the ears of a young deer just above a bush not far away. I kept really still and the deer then came into view and moved closer towards me, then stopped as it sensed something ahead, and stared straight at me.

Deer are strange creatures as their first instinct when something is wrong seems to be to freeze on the spot, before they finally decide to make a run for it. I had the wrong lens attached so decided to carefully reach for my 70-200mm and try and do a quick change, in the hope of grabbing a quick image of the inquisitive youngster, but as expected he sensed my movement and made a run for it.

When I'd finished checking out the bluebells I decided to pack up and go and check on the rape seed fields nearby for a location scout for an early morning return. As I was walking back through the woods, I sensed I was not alone again but was prepared this time as still had my camera at the ready and as I turned to look the deer was there staring at me again. I quickly fired a few frames and captured the image below, before it made off into the woods again.
